underage drinking prevention program
The Substance Abuse Council, in collaboration
with law enforcement and other community leaders, formed the Underage Drinking
Prevention Forum, in 2002, to implement strategies to reduce underage drinking
and the problems it causes in our community. Sheriff Al Byam chairs this group.
In order to ensure that our efforts would be successful; in 2003, the Underage
Drinking Prevention Forum implemented Communities Mobilizing for Change on
Alcohol, a researched based program proven to reduce availability and access of
alcohol to youth. Research shows that when availability is reduced, use rates
decline as well.
